HOME ARCHIVES BOOKS ZELMANOV FREE SOFTWARE HOME > ARCHIVES > 2008, volume 1, pages 20-32 On the Gravitational Field of a Sphere of Incompressible Liquid, According to Einstein's Theory Abstract This is a translation of the paper "Über das Gravitationsfeld einer Kugel aus incompressiebler Flüssigkeit nach der Einsteinschen Theorie" published by Karl Schwarzschild, in Sitzungsberichte der Königlich Preussischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, 1916, S.424-435. Here Schwarzschild expounds his previously obtained metric for the spherically symmetric gravitational field produced by a point-mass, to the case where the source of the field is represented by a sphere of incompressible fluid. Schwarzschild formulates the physical condition of degeneration of such a field. Translated from the German in 2008 by Larissa Borissova and Dmitri Rabounski.
